Winter is coming and this is the time of year we start preparing for the possibility that there could be days when we are unable to deliver meals due to snow and inclement weather. To sustain our clients on those days, we provide them with a Blizzard Bag of nonperishable food items to get them by until their next meal arrives.
This is vitally important since our clients are homebound and may not have family or friends to check in on them regularly. We must collect enough food to serve all of our 250+ clients - that totals over 4,000 items!
You can help! Simply collect nonperishable foods for our Blizzard Bags and drop off your donation at our office by October 21.
We are looking for canned and packaged items that are easy to open and prepare such as:
- Canned soup, stew or ravioli
- Canned chicken or tuna
- Canned fruit and vegetables
- Jello, pudding or fruit cups
- Cups of Noodles
- Boxes of crackers (Ritz or Saltine)
- Jars of applesauce or peanut butter
- Boxes of instant oatmeal or granola bars
Donations should be brought to the MOW office at 704 Rose Hill Drive in Charlottesville from Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information or to arrange a specific drop-off time, call 434-293-4364 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. ALL DONATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY FRIDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2016.
Thank you for helping us ensure that our homebound neighbors are taken care of this winter!
